Thermal comfort optimization through bioclimatic design in Mediterranean cities

چکیده

Background: Bioclimatic design is an approach based on local climate which improves thermal qualities and indoor comfort. Buildings follow this process to minimize negative effects the environment. However, still not suitable in developed countries. This study aims investigate Mediterranean bioclimatic strategies’ impact comfort efficiency housing, by examining architectural elements treatments. Methods: We adopted a descriptive, analytical, comparative methodology, complemented with software simulation, within qualitative quantitative approach. Investigation methodological tools were technical information including plans, elevations, photos, documentation. The consisted of multiple stages: literature review interpreting concept design, as well variables common building features. Moreover, paper showcases three examples successful passive houses. Furthermore, presents case- studyhouse Alex West, Alexandria, designed Revival style. Results: The results showed that most influencing features low-pitched roofs top chimney, achieved 12.6% 5% improvement summer 13% 6.8% winter, respectively. pergola porch barely had effect when placed northern façade. southern façade, positive contribution 1.4% 3.4% respectively reported, but slight winter 0.5% 2% respectively. Conclusions: We examined , compared between case-study Features focusing for cooling rather than heating, allowing wind flow maximized natural ventilation, using ventilated pitched roof spaces, sun shading proper facades angles, help regulation. proposes recommendations optimizing residential buildings Egypt.

Optimization of thermal comfort in building through envelope design

Due to the current environmental situation, energy saving has become the leading drive in modern research. Although the residential houses in tropical climate do not use air conditioning to maintain thermal comfort in order to avoid use of electricity. As the thermal comfort is maintained by adequate envelope composition and natural ventilation, this paper shows that it is possible to determine...

Thermal comfort assessment in comfort-prone workplaces.

This paper's main issue is a strong advocacy in favour of an a priori classification of thermal environments that can be really functional to comfort assessment: Class 1, environments where comfort conditions can be established (comfort-prone environments), and Class 2, environments where this is not practically feasible. The former, which are also identified here as 'thermally unconstrained' e...

Intelligent Bioclimatic Architectural Design

To produce intelligent bioclimatic architectural design software one must put together many different modules, such as, architectural design programs, bioclimatic design programs and expert consultation systems. The problem is very complex and many different technologies must be integrated. A first approach is to produce a module-based system, where every module provides its output to the next ...

Optimization of Operation of Microgrid by Thermal Demand Response Considering Enhancement of Consumers’ Thermal Comfort

In recent years, multi-energy microgrids including electricity, gas and thermal are more grown; that presents demand response (DR) models considering multi-energy storages and renewable resources. Appropriate DR management with storages may lead to optimal flexibility. In this paper, a probabilistic linear model is introduced to assess the effect of flexibility and DR. In the proposed model, el...

Prevalence and Evaluation of Bioclimatic Design Techniques used to achieve Low Energy Comfort in Architectural Design Proposals

This paper analyses responses of ninety-nine students to a design brief for a public building in different regions of China. The research determined the level of understanding and skills development in students who will be the next generation of building designers, procurers and developers. The students were asked to design in a bioclimatic fashion and therefore to consider the building to be a...
